Dr. Steven Bensinger is an Associate Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, and of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology.
Dr. Bensinger received his Veterinary Medical Degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Immunology from the University of Pennsylvania. His thesis work was completed under the mentorship of Dr. Laurence Turka, and focused on the development and function of CD4 regulatory T cells. Dr. Bensinger subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Tontonoz at UCLA, where he examined the impact of lipid metabolism on lymphocyte function and adaptive immunity.
Since establishing his own laboratory at UCLA, Dr. Bensinger has emerged as a leader in understanding the influence of lipid metabolism on the immune system.
Dr. Bensinger currently serves as Director of Immunology, Inflammation, Infection and Transplantation (I3T) Research at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
