SPORE in Brain Cancer

The UCLA Health Brain Tumor Center is a designated Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) site funded by the National Cancer Institute. The UCLA SPORE in Brain Cancer contributes significantly to progress in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of brain cancer, and these goals are accomplished through diverse research projects involving mechanistic pre-clinical work and innovative clinical studies. The SPORE includes research for several brain cancer types, including low- and high-grade glioma, glioblastoma, and meningioma.

Shared Resource Cores

Four Shared Resource Cores support the administrative, laboratory, and clinical research efforts of the UCLA SPORE in Brain Cancer, and include Research Projects, Career Enhancement Projects, and Developmental Research Projects.

Funding Opportunities

The SPORE program was initiated by the National Cancer Institute to promote interactions between basic and applied investigators, and each SPORE allocates effort to two distinct funding programs, the Developmental Research Program and Career Enhancement Program.
