UCLA's Melissa Fitzmaurice Neligan

Melissa Fitzmaurice Neligan, MPH, CRA, serves as the Chief Administrative Officer at the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has devoted the last 15 years to administration of NCI-designated cancer centers.

Prior to joining the JCCC, from 2014 to 2017, she served as the Associate Center Director for Research Administration at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center in New Mexico. In this role, she oversaw a large, extramurally funded research portfolio, and the management and oversight of all research operations. She served on the Senior Leadership team and as the center's administrative liaison to the campus research units to facilitate collaboration and development and implementation of strategic research plans. From 2008 to 2014, Fitzmaurice Neligan was at the Perlmutter Cancer Institute (formerly the NYU Cancer Institute) as the Assistant Director for Research Administration and was responsible for the development and implementation of the research strategic plan across all scientific program initiatives.

Following an extensive national search, Fitzmaurice Neligan joined the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2018 as Chief Administrative Officer. Her responsibilities encompass financial management, personnel management, research program planning and development, systems development, organization planning, space and facilities management, and capital improvements.

Fitzmaurice Neligan holds a master's degree in Public Health with a focus on healthcare administration and policy from Brooklyn College, City University of New York
