Margaret Steele is a senior management executive with nearly 30 years of experience in management and fundraising for non-profit organizations including both public charities and private foundations. Her areas of expertise include fundraising, board support and engagement, organizational oversight and due diligence, conceiving and implementing new initiatives, building partnerships, staff management, and public relations.
Prior to her becoming Executive Director of the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, she held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Project Angel Food, a 25-year old nonprofit dedicated to arresting malnutrition and isolation among men, women and children affected by cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses throughout all of Los Angeles County. She has also worked for The Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), Carnegie Hall and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
In her current leadership role at the JCCF, Steele works closely with the cancer center foundation board of directors and staff, as well as partners with colleagues in UCLA Health Sciences to develop collaborative opportunities between the clinical and research cancer enterprises.
Steele earned her B.A. with Honors in Intercultural Studies at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and earned a Certificate from the Wells Fargo Leadership Institute.
