UCLA researchers present on latest advancements at American Society for Radiation Oncology annual meeting

Post Date:October 06, 2021 8:30 AM

Physicians and researchers from the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center will highlight a variety of breakthrough research and innovative studies addressing a variety of challenges in radiation oncology at the annual American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting, which takes place October 24 to 27.

The annual meeting, which is the largest radiation oncology-focused meeting, hosts thousands of oncologists, clinicians, researchers and other health care professionals and highlights the most promising advances in cancer care from institutions all over the world.

“UCLA physicians are conducting influential research that is changing the game of radiation oncology,” said Dr. Michael Steinberg, chair of the department of Radiation Oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and director of Clinical Affairs at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. “This is vital to improving cancer care as nearly two-thirds of patients diagnosed with cancer will be treated with radiation therapy during the course of their illness.”

More than 20 abstracts, sessions and podium presentations at ASTRO feature researchers and physicians from UCLA. Some of the highlights include:
