The Simms/Mann-UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology has been honored as the social work agency of the year for its collaboration and outstanding work educating students.

The award was presented by the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, which collaborates with hundreds of agencies each year to provide students with hands-on training experience.

“It’s an honor to have the Simms/Mann-UCLA Center recognized for our work in educating and training the next generation of social workers,” said Kauser Ahmed, Ph.D., Director of the Simms/Mann-UCLA Center. “We are strongly committed as a center to enhance career development and provide training opportunities for health care professionals to better experience and practice integrative oncology.”

The Simms/Mann-UCLA Center, which is part of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA Oncology, provides integrative care for patients and family members to help optimize their wellness and address the challenges throughout the continuum of cancer care. As a center of integrative oncology, the employees and staff are devoted to complementing the best oncologic practices and scientific research through individualized care offered by a multidisciplinary team committed to enhancing the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being of people touched by cancer.

Simms/Mann-UCLA Center staff clinician Lorelei Bonet was honored with the Heart of Social Work Award. This award is given to individuals who have provided outstanding, innovative service to the school through field education, collaboration and teaching.
