Presented by
Mina S. Sedrak, MD, MS
Associate Professor, Medical Oncology
Deputy Director, Center for Cancer & Aging
City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center
Dr. Sedrak’s research focuses on mitigating morbidity and promoting healthy aging in older adults with breast cancer. Although women are surviving breast cancer, many survivors experience premature aging - including early onset cardiac disease, memory loss, and frailty. Premature aging is due to the impact of cytotoxic therapy on normal cells. Dr. Sedrak seeks to better understand the fundamental biological process that contribute to premature aging. He is particularly interested in testing if these biological signatures can be harnessed to prevent injury to normal tissue and mitigate and treat age-related consequences of cancer and its treatment.
Sponsored by the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA Department of Medicine.
