Robert DuWors

Robert DuWors has spent 28 years as a research administrator in the University of California system. From 1987 to 1998, DuWors worked in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco. In this role, he oversaw a large, extramurally funded research portfolio and all departmental operations. He was also instrumental in the creation of an off-site research confederation called the UCSF Prevention Sciences Group. In 1998, he was asked to become the Associate Director of the UCSF Cancer Center and was part of the Senior Leadership Group that secured NCI-designation for UCSF. In addition to his Cancer Center role, DuWors also managed an organized research unit, the Cancer Research Institute.

In 2003, DuWors joined the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center as the Deputy Director for Administration and Planning and has worked closely with the other senior leaders to further develop the Center’s priorities and initiatives. DuWors is one of three non-academic members of the JCCC policy-making and management team. His responsibilities encompass financial management, personnel management, systems development, organization planning, space and facilities management, program planning and development, and capital improvements.

In addition to his role in the JCCC, DuWors serves as Associate Director in the David Geffen School of Medicine’s Technology Accelerator which focuses on furthering the intellectual property developed by school of medicine faculty and on various campus wide research-related projects.

DuWors holds bachelor’s and master's degrees in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.
