Clinical care and treatment services for kidney cancer at UCLA is facilitated through the UCLA Kidney Cancer Program. Established in 1989, it provides state-of-the-art medical, surgical and mindful care to our patients with kidney cancer, in a convenient and coordinated multidisciplinary setting, while working to advance and discover more effective treatments and an ultimate cure for kidney cancer.

The UCLA Kidney Cancer Program is a unique, comprehensive, multidisciplinary program developed by the UCLA Departments of:

  • Urology, Division of Urologic Oncology
  • Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology

The UCLA Kidney Cancer Program's team of physicians, surgeons and clinical professionals are world-renowned experts in the diagnosis, management and treatment of kidney cancer, from localized tumors (tumors confined to the kidney) to the most complicated metastatic kidney tumors (tumors that have spread to other organs or parts of the body).

A strong affiliation and collaborative approach with two of the world’s foremost cancer and research institutions, UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, gives the Program the ability to offer patients unique access to world leaders in cancer research.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are carefully controlled research studies in which cancer patients help doctors and scientists find ways to improve health and cancer care, and to make sure the treatments are safe and effective. Each study is designed to address and answer specific scientific questions and to find better ways to prevent, diagnose or treat cancer. A clinical trial is one of the final stages resulting from the research conducted during intensive and lengthy laboratory studies.

If you are interested in finding out more about these studies, visit our Enroll in a Clinical Trial section for general information and a listing of currently open clinical trials.
